Group 2 Show & Share (And a Digital SALE!)

20170522_113501
Would you check this out??

How CUTE is this?

This is the very first quilt that Carleen ever made, and she was about 7 or 8 at the time.

Simple scrap squares, stitched together to make a quilt for her dolly.

And after all of these years she still has it!

This is just the most precious thing ever.  And how cool that she can document her life as a quilter taking her all the way back to childhood.

That love of fabric, of scissors and needles and threads and simple piecing.  This just goes straight to the heart of quilting for me!

Nancy brought some amazing vintage family quilts!

The colors in this one are SO vibrant!

Upon this closer look I cheered when I saw this one had early machine quilting on it.  Quilting machines have been around for years and years, and quilts that were quilted with edge to edge designs stood the test of time through much loving and using and washing and drying because the pieces were stabilized by the quilting that held the layers closely together.

She is blessed to have not one, but TWO Dresden Plates from family!

This one was hand quilted tightly with a diagonal cross-hatch.

And WOW!

The Grandmother’s Flower Garden with diamond path!

There were gasps from the audience.

This was SO beautiful!

All of the Show & Share from group 2 were fabulous.  Some of the quilts shown with group 2 were duplicates of our day with group 1 as a few quilters stayed for both sessions and showed their quilts twice so those who weren’t with group 1 could see them.  If you missed the Show & Share from group 1, you will find it HERE.

Enjoy the Group 2 slide show below:

I grabbed this photo of the gals choosing their Quiltville Quilt to sleep under as Show & Share came to a close:

This was SO fun to do!

I found out yesterday that the little video I tried to embed in a post before heading home didn’t turn out right, so if you missed the Quiltville Quilts on the beds in the cabins, I’m posting it again:

And it was a huge help to have help packing my trunk show bags the next morning at breakfast!

I last saw these gals at breakfast on Tuesday morning.  Here it is FRIDAY and it already feels like forever ago.  I’m missing their smiles and all of the fun we had and I’m looking forward to 2019 when we do it all over again.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend, Everyone!

While you are enjoying a lovely long weekend,  (And I hope you are!) I am giving you the heads up that ALL DIGITAL PATTERNS in the Quiltville Store are 25% off through Monday when you use the coupon code DIGITAL25 in the coupon box when ordering.

This is your chance to pick up the ones you are missing and have always wanted to make!

The rain has finally lifted here – at LEAST for a while.  It was coming down in buckets yesterday afternoon and lasted past 11pm when I went to bed.  There will be sewing for me today – I’m working on my blocks for the 2018 Addicted to Scraps column with Quiltmaker Magazine.  Oh, have I got some fun blocks for you this time around!

However you spend your weekend, please keep in mind the REASON for this weekend.

To those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, there are never words enough to thank you.

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

Vintage quilt found in Texas.

It's been raining for days, but even the rain brings its own beauty.

It's hard to embrace the storms of your life, but without the storms nothing grows.

  1. Beautiful Show n Share quilts. I love to read the back story they tell. Thanks for the reminder. I always have to look for the Rainbow.

  2. I love the photos of the gals choosing quilts. They are all excited to sleep under one of your quilts - as I would be too.

  3. I always love the "Show and Share" parts of your posts, but recently (Like the last couple of weeks), that portion of your daily blog is just a black square. It does nothing if I click under or on it. I imagine it is something with Windows, Microsoft or Yahoo. I have run a diagnostics check, and it comes back that there are no errors/issues. My computer is ancient (9 years with one upgrade), so I am thinking I may have to finally bite the bullet and get a new one, soon, like maybe in the next year or so.

Just thought I would let you know I love your blog and your daily posts, but am missing a very beautiful part of it.

  4. Also getting a black square recently, unable to view the special show you take so much time to present to us. Any suggestions anybody? Still loving the blog!

  5. I'm experiencing the black box also for the video. Don't know how to resolve it.

  6. If you are experiencing the Black Box syndrome there is nothing I can do to change it. Likely you are using Internet Explorer or viewing the link through Facebook. Either visit the slideshow on my YouTube channel directly, or change to Google Chrome or Firefox.

  7. Great Show and Share. Love all your quilts on the beds. All those ladies must have slept very soundly under the gorgeous Bonnie quilts.

  8. Great show and share, such wonderful quilts. Yours are divine as well. I usually look at this column on my phone, but tonight I am on my laptop...oh and the pictures are far better...yep...convert.. I look forward to seeing what you have shared each day. I'm usually in my car in the parking lot at work checking it out before the 45 min commute home. I hope your weekend is great...enjoy ...I think I will sit on my porch and listen to the world turn to the sound of the birds chirping. De=stress in order.

  9. I loved your quote of the day today. But I loved even more the idea of sleeping under those beautiful quilts of yours. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with all of us. Enjoy yourself over this long weekend.

  10. I love Carleen's first quilt and glad she brought it to share. Quilters today think they invented using gray as a neutral. This just shows nothing is new, it's just recycled.

Glad you had such a great retreat.

  11. I hope the folks at Quiltmakers know what a treasure you are. My most favorite part of that magazine is your Addicted to Scraps column. That is the first thing I check out when the new issue comes out. You never disappoint me and I am in awe that you never run out of fabulous ideas.
