Pineapple Fabrics - In my OWN BACK YARD!

20170210_105815
I met up with Kim @gogokim at Pineapple Fabrics in Archdale, North Carolina for a meet, a greet, and a whole lot of fabric fun!

And it was more than just fabric shopping a warehouse sale.  I connected with a wonderful family owned (3 generations) business in nearly my own back yard.

And the story of this place is simply amazing. It started out as a company that makes swatch cards and swatch books for the garment industry.  Over the past several years they have moved into the quilting side of things, making header cards and swatch samples for quilting fabrics.

You know all of those cards with the fabrics attached that the reps bring around?  Yep!  They are made and printed here.  That means they have the fabric sample side of things, and also the printing of the cards and posters and everything that goes with the fabric samples side.  Garments as well as quilting.

Kim invited me to meet the owner and go on a tour of the facility where they do all the sample card/book making and I was floored.  This locally owned, 3 generation family business employs close to 80 people from my area in a clean, well lit and wonderfully creative facility.

Pineapple Fabrics is now on the quilting scene with a wonderful online store that you can order from if you are not in the area.   But if you ARE in the area- Archdale is just south of Greensboro, they have a WAREHOUSE SALE not to be beat 3 to 4 times a year.  The next one is in May.

But if you are reading this now, and you are anywhere from Raleigh to Charlotte or a bit beyond, get in your car now…grab your quilty friends and come on over.  The sale goes through 4pm today.

You will also find Pineapple Fabrics at several shows throughout the year, including Quilt Festival in Houston in November. Don’t miss them!

Everything is new, first quality, and wonderfully priced!

Bolts, to precuts:

The selection is just unbelievable in variety, quality, and inspiration! Beautiful Fabrics from favorites such as Andover, Dear Stella, free spirit, Henry Glass, Michael Miller, P&B, Paintbrush Studio, RJR, Rowan, Studio e, Timeless Treasures and Windham! These are all first quality, not seconds. Fabrics average around $6 a yard or less.

Grab yourself some fabric lovin’!

I put my photos in this little cute slide show just to give you the ambience.

And yes, I did come home heavily laden!  I couldn’t help myself.  I’m eager to sew and mix these new fabrics in with my stash:

Yeah, I showed ZERO restraint!

Not one bit!!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that these fat quarters are BONUS sized – they are 21 X 21.  Not 18 X 22.  So you can get a larger square out of them if you need to.  NICE JOB!

The bundles you see in the cellophane wrappers are “Pineapple Packs.”  There are many styles of Pineapple Packs…some are all fat quarters, some have 10”, 5” and 2 1/2” squares, some a combination of strips and fat quarters, and ALL come with your free selection of a pattern you’d like to go with each set.

Unlike a KIT…there are patterns designed to go with each selection of cuts.  I chose a pattern for a hobo bag to go with one set, and a baby quilt pattern to go with the others, but I wasn’t limited to those.  There are many patterns that will work specifically with each Pineapple Pack.  BRILLIANT idea!

The May dates are near Mother’s Day.

They don’t have May up on their website yet, but sign up for their newsletter on the website, and you’ll know as soon as it is posted.

This was too much fun!

  13. Pineapple fabrics is 5 miles from my home and I look forward to their warehouse sales. The prices can't be beat and if you are looking for something special ,ask Dot if they have it in the back and she will go hunt to see. They are very knowledgeable on what they have in inventory. All the people working the sale are wonderful and they remember you by name. How nice it is to be greeted by your name. Makes you feel appreciated and part of the family.

  15. Well Bonnie, I high tailed it over to Pineapple and had a barrel of fun. When I got back to this post was happy to see you let it rip and got yourself some NEW fabrics as well. I did not sign up for the newsletter as my cc cannot take this sort of hit often. LOL
