Turning a Page…

keep-calm-and-watch-your-words-4
Yesterday, I posted about love.

I opened my heart about how it feels to be living in North Carolina where the KKK is marching.  And how Nazi salutes caused fitful sleep.  No matter “which side” you are on, these are real events and they disturb me.  It is NOT a political statement.

I simply expressed how I felt and that we need to reach out with love to those who are different than us.  Love conquers fear. And that quilting joins us together.

NOTHING I said was political.  If you don’t believe me you can read yesterday’s post.

But today I am hurt, and really have no words for the kinds of ugly comments….DIATRIBES paragraphs long - bashing me for political views that I NEVER EXPRESSED.

I never expected this from you, my readers.

These comments have been deleted.  Those who have found their comments deleted?  I would appreciate it if you would never leave another comment on this blog.  I didn’t deserve this, and I am done.

You can find somewhere else to go, because the views you expressed – the way you lashed out at me, or tried to tell me what I can or can’t do with my blog?  That was as if I had invited you into my home, into my life –and you shouted those things to my face.

Some said “there is no place for this on a quilting blog.”  This is NOT a quilting blog.  Quilting is part of my life, but it is not all of my life.  I share EVERYTHING here, it is my journal. You are here as my guest.

And if I am concerned about something, I will write about it.

And I will turn OFF the commenting.

While you were busy slamming me --
I was doing this.

Box #16 is out the door.

I am headed to Florida late this afternoon where I will be spending Thanksgiving.

There may or may not be a blog post.

I’ve lost my faith in people’s ability to chose kindness.  To chose respect for others’ opinions. To hold their own views silent while they allow someone else to express a different opinion.

I’m asking myself WHY I’ve been doing this day in and day out for years and years and offering all I do for free ---when this is how I am treated for simply stating that we need to see each other as individuals and love each other.

This isn’t worth it to me anymore.

  1. I have not seen the comments, but I can imagine. So sorry that you had to experience this. There is no place is our society for the KKK or for Nazis....period. No defense is ok. Thank you for speaking up....I appreciate it.

  2. WOW!
I read your blog and hear nothing but love for each other and all mankind, and while I don't read faithfully everyday, I did read the day in question and left the post feeling uplifted and heard the post as saying that we are lucky to be a part of such a wonderful group of people who are all different, but with a common thread of quilting- I may even be paraphrasing Bonnie here a bit. I'm so, so sorry that words have hurt you Bonnie- you do so much for other and for quilters.

Thank you for the first post of the mystery quilt. This will be my first year doing this with you and I am thankful for you and many of the others I have met through quilting. I was thankful to sleep well under two cozy quilts last night. Most of us have such abundance and love surrounding us- and I count the few minutes I am lucky enough to have each week to spend time on this blog as something to celebrate.

Thank you for all you do and all the good your spread far and wide Bonnie.

  3. I'm glad you got to post your feelings today. May we all choose kindness and love over hurt and harshness on this site. Thank you for posting so much in your life because it lets us feel we get to know you and we all share ups and downs, not just the love of quilting. May you enjoy your time in Florida and get rejuvenated to come back and keep it all going! I just received my book and essential triangle and thank you so much for taking time to sign my book. It's your thoughtfulness and you added personal touches that make things so much more appreciated!

  4. Bonnie, chin up. NC got a new governor, I believe. Most people I know do not condone those who are neo Nazi or KKK taking advantage of the situation of a new President elect. All I know who voted in this election whether they won or lost, will never support the stupidity of a few. I know there are those who are in fear but remember we can't let those few scare us. Yes, I know about the nightmares of fears, mine were of Sadam Hussein. Stay strong. I'm hopeful our Congress will do their job. If not we can fire them in 2 years! I am praying for all this stupidity of those who take advantage of the atmosphere will end shortly.

I am so sorry to hear of the horrible comments. I for one take great comfort in your quotes. I try and apply them to my busy life, so thank you for including us in your every day life and your quotes of the day. Thank you for being a shining smiling light for so many.
