Let's Go to Dallas!

And just like that, my holiday time home is over and done –and off I go to Dallas to start my 2016 teaching year!

I'm not sure miss Emmy Lou is happy about that, but she will keep my spot warm while I'm gone and I'll be back before she misses me.

And no, she isn't mad or angry, she is just camera shy.  I'm lucky I caught this photo at all, usually as soon as I put the phone up, she turns away from it.  Awww sweet girl! You should hear her purr!

I know many are worried due to the devastating tornados that hit the Dallas area over Christmas.  My heart breaks for those affected.

What a WEIRD Christmas week we had in the south with temperatures being so warm.  Storms are a product of so many things.  And it has been weird warm.

But I have checked with my airlines, my flights are good to go and there is a whole 5 days worth of full to the gills workshops waiting for me.  So I’m off!

I can honestly say that I got EVERYTHING done this holiday break that I wanted to.

I finished quilt tops!  I got a couple of things quilted and bound!  I cleaned the studio, I even pitched some stuff to the curb!

((Those things are to remain name-less and photo-less and are long gone, so that’s all I’m going to say about that matter.))

We've been having a great time with the Allietare Mystery! SO MUCH FUN!

I got to spend Thanksgiving with my family, my dad, and dear friends.

I had Christmas with both of my boys and we had the BEST time even WITH the weirdly warm weather.

We saw Star Wars!

We got all of the planking up in the downstairs family room and sewing nook area at the cabin.

I treadled.  A lot! ((Happy, happy, Bonnie!))

I got Mona's treadle machine up and running.

I took naps.  And long walks with Sadie.

I tamed boxes of scraps.

I've cut oodles of pairs of triangles!

All baggied up and ready to fly!

Irene is picking me up at DFW tomorrow and she will run me to Plano, that is after we grab a bite to eat out, and make a stop at an antique mall that is on the agenda!

She's also bringing me a loaner featherweight so I'll be able to sew in the evenings while in Texas.

These triangles are ready to sew, and my goal is to get them stitched and pressed before I return home.  Yes, it's time to start the Quilter-on-the-go projects for my 2016 teaching year!

Last night's round of strip set stitching!

Pressed and ready to slice!

I had some time to do some simple mindless stitching while watching Call the Midwife on Netflix last evening.  This is what I love about the Scrap User's System.

I didn't have to cut anything.  I grabbed some colored strips and some neutral strips and just went to town chain sewing them together.  When I had a big enough stack, I cut them apart wherever strips ended and pressed the strip sets to the dark.  All in an evenings work!

The rest can wait until I get back from Texas --it's time to fly!

Yes, it's been the best holiday break that I can ever remember having.  Friends, Family, Food, Fun, and loads of Fabric Fondling. A full month of it.  I'm rested and ready.

I'm excited to see what 2016 will bring!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

  13. I'm glad you had a great time at Home & Quiltvilla. Starting the New Year out with a bang. I'll be excited for the Plano mystery when it shows up in Quiltmaker. Meanwhile I have to wait for the next clue for Alleitare. I'm loving my fabrics so far. What colors will be used for the next clue, I wonder.

  17. Good luck with your travels! We boarded the plane and waited at the gate in Dallas yesterday. Because of the snow, it took our pilot THREE HOURS for his 1.5 hour drive!!!

  19. Have fun in Texas. Maybe I should run to Plano to buy some fabric! Or book! In truth, probably not. A little cold for me right now. Hope you found something or "someone" at the antique mall. Enjoy the weather. I hope we have some sun while you're here. We had some at my place, but I could drive your way & see more or none!

  20. How wonderful tthat you are going to Dallas I lived there 1967 till 2000.
We went to our grand daughters wedding and Dalls is now so crowded that I could never live there again.
The traffic is so scary. Have a save trip Bonnie and hopeful your flight is not cancelde out.
Wishing you a great time teaching.
Your little kitty is so cute. Bet Sadie be missing you too.
