Thinking of Paris

I awoke this morning to the news of terrorism in Paris, and my heart is incredibly sad for the beautiful country of France, the amazing city of lights -Paris, and its people.

Why gunmen would walk into a packed concert and open fire on music lovers is beyond me.

From BBC.com:

France has declared a national state of emergency and tightened borders after at least 128 people were killed in a night of gun and bomb attacks in Paris.
Eighty people were reported killed after gunmen burst into the Bataclan concert hall and took hostages before security forces stormed the hall.
People were shot dead at restaurants and bars at five other sites in Paris. At least 180 people were injured.
I can’t grasp it.  I just can’t.

I made my first trip to Paris in November of 2009.  Can 6 years really fly this fast?

Evidently it can.

My heart is with Paris today.

With the world today.

This is my post today.

And I’m not sure where the world is going to go from here.

When is enough – ENOUGH?

Yesterday was touted as World Kindness Day. Please consider doing something nice for someone else, no matter how small. THe only way to combat this blackness and evil is to do our part to make the world better. And perhaps in honor of Paris, do two nice things.....

Horrible. Someone said the world must unite to overcome this evil, and I agree. I think we need to deal firmly with these criminals. We should not release and turn them back to their country to have them initiate more and more of their wicked plots on the rest of the world.
The terror they have inspired ---- we are all affected. Terrible. Our thoughts are with France, and Boston and NYC in particular....

  9. It is not just France that has seen fast restrictions but several of the European countries. This evil will touch us all.

  10. We as people need to figure out what is causing hatred to blossom. The stories of racism, religious differences, and various forms of brother hating brother are prevalent. We need to stop the problems, but we also need to realize that it takes both sides of any issue to fix it. We can't think it needs to be done and suddenly it is all better. We all need to search within our selves. What small part can we do and accept that we can't fix it all but that we can do something.

  13. What has happened even to civility and common courtesy in our world? Anyone who has a different opinion is subjected to name calling and hate speech. It would be so nice if people could show a little kindness, understanding and thoughtfulness for others.

  15. So very sad. I visited Paris with my dad in 1988. It was the only time he visited Europe after he was there fighting in WWII. I wish we could obtain Peace on Earth.

  20. I lived 4 hours away from Paris and often went to the City of Lights. My older sister often took me when I was home visiting .She lives in Les Provence and was going to Paris on December 8. With THE speelt train iT only takes 3 hours. I think this time she Will not go. IT is so terrible sad all thus hate just because they are different. I can't imagine How anyone can do this all this killing. Lets hope and pray for all who died and the families.

  21. My husband took me to Paris for two weeks in spring of 2000. Heard the bells of notre dame on Easter morning from our hotel room a few blocks away in st Germaine area. Before he died 3 years ago this April, he said, "Sandra....we will always have Paris." Yes. We will.

So glad we traveled when we did. Have not had a desire to travel since 9/11. I personally think we need to replay the World Trade Center attacks more frequently. Human nature is to forget. Human nature is to close our eyes to unpleasantries. I am a realist and realize that we can not change the world. We can try to do what is right. There is evil and always will be on this earth, I'm afraid. Too much time and money is spent by supercilious dunderpates talking politics to do death and passing the blame. I'm afraid other countries have depended on us for far too long to help keep them safe and fight their battles. They are going to have to open their eyes - it is clearly a global issue. There are crazies wherever you go. No avoiding it, I'm afraid. we can't insulate ourselves, or depend on our government or some other countries government to do it for us. We hope they will do their job...

crazy world we live in. I try to live life every day to the fullest, as if there is not another....
So sorry to find out this news. I do not have television. Nothing on it. I watch Netflix, YouTube, quilt cam and the likes.
I pray the proper people in charge will handle this matter. All I can do is pray and vote. I Feel Very helpless when it comes to these matters
    See you at 2 Bonnie
