Getting Quilty in Marshall, MO!

We had a great crowd show up on a Sunday afternoon for my presentation hosted by the Stitch by Stitch guild in Marshall!

And what a lively audience!  Loads of laughter, fun and excitement over putting our precious stashes to good use in making wonderful scrap quilts!

The facility is absolutely beautiful!  The Martin Community center is providing us with room to move, plenty of space for 50 quilters to set up and sew, the lighting is fabulous and we couldn’t ask for more!

After the lecture we set up for a Bricks in the Barnyard workshop that ran from 4pm to 8pm officially – but unofficially the ladies were free to sew all the way until 10pm and get the most out of their sewing time as they wanted.

When I rolled out at 8:30pm to go get some rest – they were still going strong!

You just have to love the resilience and fortitude that quilters possess!

Cutting up a storm!

Hands were busy chaining triangles!

Blocks were coming together!

Layouts being planned!

Once they got the hang of block assembly we threw in a whammy!  Building braids on the side for the border – and using the pieces as their Leaders & Enders while sewing the other units!  It doesn’t get much more fun than that – working on two things at once!

And so the border grows!

You can find the pattern for Bricks in the Barnyard in my book Scraps & Shirttails II.  Signed copies are available in Quiltville's Store!

Today we are up to it again!  50 students in a Smith Mountain Morning workshop – can you hear us roar?!

You can just bet this is going to be an awesome day.

This afternoon I’ve got a 3 hour drive that will get me to Springfield about 7pm to set up for tomorrow morning’s lecture with the Ozark Piecemakers!

I hope to see some of you there for tomorrow’s lecture day and for our workshops!

Love from Missouri ---

  2. Did you know there is a Laura Ingalls Wilder home near Springfield, in Mansfield, Missouri? Thought you might like to make a stop there on your way to St. Louis. Also, when you get to St. Louis, make sure you get to Ted Drewes for some frozen custard. Looking forward to meeting you on Saturday.

What fun we had in Marshall. It was a great two days with a bunch of wonderful gals. The guild had it set up like a well-oiled machine and welcomed us with open arms. Bonnie...what can I say. I learned SO much and had so much fun. Bonnie's quilts and quilts that others brought to show, OUTSTANDING. I am so thankful I was able to go this and it is two days that I will cherish for a LONG time. Thanks for the memories.....

I love the Bricks in the Barnyard pattern, and Bonnie, you were such a great teacher. With that class and the one the next day, I greatly improved in my usage of those 3 rulers...or maybe 4 if you want to call the tri-recs rulers two. The ladies at Marshall were such great organizers, loved the classes, loved the quilty garage sale, the room, the snacks, the food, but best of all the camaraderie of meeting and making new quilting friends. Thanks, Bonnie and the Stitch by Stitch Quilters!
