And….I SEWED!!

20141216_203206-1
I sewed last night!

I was talking to my mom, and this baby is due in something like 3 weeks…holy cow, were does the time go?

It’s time to get this little quilt together, get it quilted, bound, labeled and on its way to my Sis in Law in Idaho!

I had been using this as my Quilt-Cam project, but we all know that not much sewing goes on for me during Quilt-Cam, and with the crash of last week’s attempt, no sewing has happened on it at all for at least a couple of weeks now.

I’m not sure if I will be able to fit another Quilt-Cam in before Christmas, but I will let you know if something opens up.

Right now I just really NEED some production and solo-sewing time to make some headway on some deadlines.

But look!

Sadie helping me decide on borders!

At this point the center measures 32.5” square.  I’m toying with pieced borders, or not?  Just not sure what I want to do, but I have enough of that red to bind it in, that is the only decision that has been made yet.

I walked away for just a second, and came back to this:

What??!

Yes, this baby quilt will be washed before I give it away!  My Brother and his wife have a dog also, so they are used to shenanigans like this!

The 9 patches are recycled plaids, the rest came from regular fabric stash.  Fun combo.

This is my goal today….get borders on, choose a backing, piece a batting, and get it loaded for quilting.  I want to do the hand binding part while up at the Cabin next week.

Today my holiday officially starts.  I have a massage this afternoon.  I’ll be sewing every other chance I get…..

Have a great Wednesday, everyone!

  2. It's fabulous Bonnie! Makes me want to go in right now and start one just like it! It's a perfect backdrop for a Sadie picture, so imagine how much more perfect it will be with a baby!!

  3. I'd love to have your energy! It's such a wonderful quilt for either sex just changing the sashing or borders.

If I am making a quilt for someone, I always tell them I have cats and dogs who "help" me with my quilts. I then tell them I don't charge extra for their hair.

I have to say, I was not seeing where you were going with this quilt. But, now set together it is fantabulous! So great with the shirtings , but it would also be wonderful in bright novelty prints with black and white hour glass units. I can see this quilt in my future. I need something quick to jump start my creativity! Thanks. Julie in MS.

  9. That quilt is adorable! They are going to love it. And my dog does the same thing every time I lay a quilt top on the floor.

  13. That little quilt is adorable & your dog made me laugh this morning. My kitties do the same thing every chance they get. I see your pink Atlas machine in the background of one of your pics. I have one of those machines, too. It is my current favorite, but I need to get a new belt on her. Have a super day!

  16. Cute, Cute! Sadie wants one just like it. I'm sure you have enough scraps to repeat this pattern. 2 more sleeps until Clue 4! I'll be stitching on clues 1-3 today, but just until Grandmatime...

  21. Lovely quilt! Just received and have partially read Leaders & Enders that you signed & shipped last week. Thank you. Merry Christmas. And, my dogs approve most quilts as does Sadie. Yes, i wash them.

  23. Another awesome "Bonnie Hunter baby quilt original". I have loved all of the baby quilts you have done, all of them would make for a great Bonnie baby quilt book! Have a Merry Christmas with family and friends.

  24. I'm sure Sadie is happy to have Mama home for an extended time :)

  25. I have been doing 9 patches from 2" strips as a leader/ender forever. while I have a million done already, they are small so I think I need a gazillion to do a quilt. However, if I switch gears and do lots of "baby" size (in my world they too are large as babies run 9# to over 11#), I may be ready to put a few together. thank you for the inspiration!!

  28. Sadie looks all well again. What's with pets and quilts? Maybe they sense our scent on them. Quilt is very sweet.

  29. I never know if you read these Bonnie
but the baby quilt has been blessed by doggie. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and not all of my quilts are dog approved! I consider this a good omen.
I have spent the past 3 weeks working on "The Grand Illusion".

  30. That Sadie has such a sweet face. Nice of her to bless your quilt :-) It adds love for the new baby coming. Your quilt will be loved.

  31. So glad you have decided not to squeeze in a QuiltCam until after Christmas. Sorry from my own point of view and all of your faithful followers. But very happy that you are being sensible and NOT pushing yourself so much. Enjoy finishing the baby quilt and sending it off.

  32. I like the way this turned out. I love that Sadie wanted to help too.

  33. Quilt is looking good! Enjoy your holiday! You deserve a break and we will all be here when you are refreshed!

  34. I have heard directly from Sadie herself. She said if Mom likes it so do I! She is such a cutiepie.

    And I LOVE THIS PATTERN>

  35. Sadie has officially approved the quilt, so the baby will love it! Great scrappy pattern...makes me want to dig into my stash and start cutting fabric. Can't do that though, too much to get done before Christmas. Sew on!!

  36. Ahh, Sadie thought you made the baby quilt for her since she is "your baby". I wasn't sure how the block would look next to each other, but now I can see they really connect with each other. Now, this is one I want to make too. You are going to have to slow down because I can't keep making every quilt just like those you make. Every one you show seems to be one I want to make. Very nice quilt!

  37. Let me second that opinion about a baby quilt book.

  38. Is there a pattern for this square? This is really cute.

  39. Bonnie, have you named this pattern? what?

  42. Love your baby quilt.

  43. That naughty little monkey! But I can't imagine it getting a smack. My animals used to get away with all sorts of things. They are a bit don't aren't they;

    ReplyDelete
  44. Sadie is telling/asking you the same thing my cat asked for Christmas, "I want a quilt too."

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't lay things on the floor because I couldn't get up - but my dog takes every opportunity to finish my coffee if I get up and forget to take it with me.
