Bricks in the Barnyard, Mineola TX Style!

20141025_112006-1
My Texas Peeps and I say a big “Hey Y’all!” and “Howdy!”

It’s been so nice to see so many travel in from all over.  Yesterday we were joined by Charlotte from New York and Pat from Maryland!

It’s always such a hoot to see folks that I’ve known from somewhere else, come to this location, and meet people that I have known from some other somewhere else, and now they know each other – like one big happy Texas family!

Bricks in the Barnyard from Scraps & Shirttails II is an absolute favorite.  I loved making it from recycled shirts mixed with solid red as my accent.

I sewed mine while up on retreat in West Virginia, and there are a few random rectangles in my border as I was 3 rectangles short of finishing so gleaned some throw away scraps from other retreaters ---if you look closely you will find a couple of kokopeli that don’t belong, as well as one fabric with Christmas lights on it.  I guess because those were throw away pieces too, they DO fit in with the theme of recycled!

Vintage Grasshopper Love!

We had some old beauties in class with us yesterday as well!  Meliza brought her green Elna Grasshopper with her to class!

Irene brought her tan featherweight!

We don’t see these that often, and yes, that is the original paint color.  It’s a 1950s model.

Fabulous Sandra and her tomato red 301 baby!

On another note…Sandra was so awesome and let me borrow her neon GREEN 301 for sewing in my room at night..check this out:

Fun Ladies!

But back to yesterday’s class…Awesome awesome awesome!  We worked on blocks in the morning, and moved onto the braid border in the afternoon ----and every one’s fabrics were so
individually wonderful, each quilt will be so different!
