Re-Print Please!

For those who don’t know what goes on behind the scenes…let me just say that it is nuts.

I wrote the last two parts and the last two Mystery Monday Link-Up posts ahead of time due to spending Christmas at the cabin and leaving town on December 29th.

I wrote the directions at home on my big computer where I have my quilting programs, a comfortable keyboard, and a screen bigger than my head so I can see what I’m doing.

Technical stuff like pattern writing just doesn’t happen on a laptop –and I was still getting used to a NEW laptop and not all of my programs that I use most often are installed on it yet, and there is a HUGE learning curve between Win 7 and Win 8 ---but I digress.

I was writing at home –and the quilt was up at the cabin.  I didn’t have it with me while pattern writing.

Not long after part 6 posted – I got emails telling me that the number of border units was off  by ONE on the small version.

I was teaching, and away ---teaching 7 days straight of very full workshops in Texas.

But a girl has to face more than 40 emails telling her “your pattern is wrong”.

I could fix the text on the blog –and did.

For the small version you need 22 units for the side borders and 24 for the top and bottom.

What I could not fix until this morning was the pdf file that is uploaded to my quiltville.com website.  I didn’t have the original copy written in WORD with me, so I could not edit it and upload it while on the road.

I took care of it this morning.

You can find the corrected pdf linked HERE.  It is also fixed when you click the link on part 6 HERE.

I’m sorry for the grief and headache this caused you.  I took care of it as soon as I could.  Please re-print your pdf version so it reflects the correct number of border units.

  4. Not a problem Bonnie, most people figured it out! Don't you just love technology.
It will be the first of your mystery quilts that I will do a second time because of the many layouts I have seen.
Thank you for all you do and hope to see you in MN in 2016.

  5. Thank you so much Bonnie for your guidance, generosity and passion. You are one awesome lady. Huggles!!

  6. Bonnie, I feel for you. It seems with as generous, good and LIFE CHANGING (yes you changed my life) as you are, giving away a fortunes worth of info, patterns and help... you spend a lot of time apologizing. I hope you never feel taken for granted. You. Are. A. Blessing!!!

  7. Bonnie, Thank you! You give away so much, and then on top of it, you feel so much angst, even guilt, when you are not perfect. Most of us really do appreciate what you do for us and realize what it costs you in terms of commitment and dedication. Please give yourself a break. We love you!

  8. Bonnie,
Thanks so much for all you do to share the love of quilting with us. You seem to get a lot of disgruntled comments from people who should be very appreciative and gracious. Just want you to know you are appreciated.

  9. Aww Bonnie ~~ you are the best ~~ we were able to figure it all out and many have finished putting together the top ~~ Just so thankful you are willing to share your time to make so much enjoyment for so many. Hope you have wonderful memories of your family time. You are a blessing~Thank you for just being you!

  10. No worries, patience is a virtue lest some forget!

  11. Can't believe people actually felt the need to tell you!

  12. That you did this for free for the quilting public is AMAZING!! You are so generous with your time. People sometimes fail to believe how long it takes to get the inspiration, make it all up, do all the writing of the patterns, and then do the computer work. I can't wait to take a class from you in Sarasota!!

  13. Thanks for the update, Bonnie. I, for one, could never complain about such a thing with everything you do for us.
Thanks again for such a beautiful quilt pattern, I absolutely LOVE it! Hubby now wants a king size one for our bed...so he must like it too!

  14. Thanks for the Update, Bonnie.

I'm sorry that so many people gave you a hard time. They have lost track of the fact that you provide this really fun activity for us all to do and that you are only human.

This has been my first mystery, and I am really enjoying myself!

  15. I didn't see the earlier comments about the border pieces, but figured something wasn't quite right last night. I wanted to see what my partially completed top would look like with the border. After piecing together 23 of the border blocks I could see that once the small inner neutral border was added, something would have to be adjusted. It's a beautiful project, Bonnie, and you should be very proud of it. Your post this morning solved that little mystery within the mystery!

  16. Bonnie...thank you for an amazing quilt and FREE pattern! This is definitely one of my favorites (I say that about ALL your quilts.) :) You and your patterns have brought me so much enjoyment and satisfaction to my little corner of the world...I can't imagine what the quilting world would be like without you!

  17. No big deal at all. OMG! Girl, you have enough on your plate. I am not to that point yet, and may change the border anyway, but thanks for updating it. Take care and TRY to relax a bit.

  18. You are making me dizzy with all you keep in your head!
I am just loving this quilt and think I could have figured this out for myself but thanks for the update and I hope I get that far before the year is out!

  20. Ahh, technology. When it is good, it is very, very good. And when it is bad it is horrid.

I'm in awe of all that you accomplish, and the pace at which you move. You never need to apologize for anything in my book. You give us more in a week than I can accomplish in a year!

those are the extra "miscellanous parts" that should be worked into the label you talked about yesterday! lol it wasn't that there was an extra piece! it's the piece that is supposed to go on the BACK of the quilt! :-)

  22. All I can say is "Thank you Bonnie". This is the best mystery so far. It kept me guessing the entire time.
I am cutting my CS today. I know I am way behind but I had some oral surgery to angst over and could not decide on my colors. All went well with the surgery yesterday and I cut my fabrics all morning. Sitting down at the machine later.

  25. Bonnie,
Just changed my copy. I haven't started yet so this was no problem. Thanks for this pattern, it may be my favorite yet. Still have to get my Orca Bay quilted. I am constantly recommending your site to my customers (I work at Joanns).

  26. No grief here, mistakes happen. I do not know how you do it with your schedule. It would be interesting if,one of these days, you could take us through the design process of a new quilt. It is baffling to try to figure out how you do it.

  27. Sometimes the lack of portability of all our e-life is so frustrating!!! Thank you for all you do. No big deal. And thank you for fixing it all so well and thoroughly!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Since I can't seem to count, and always have parts left over, I would never have noticed anyway. I'm so sorry some people feel the need to give you grief over something you have been so generous giving us. To all the negative-nellies out there, please leave our Bonnie alone!

  29. All is well Bonnie! I remember during last years mystery, Easy Street, you commented you HAD to be home to do the mystery. For this years mystery, Celtic Solstice, you absolutely jumped through HOOPS, great BIG HOOPS, to write posts weeks ahead so that we would have clues while you were travelling in Germany. Perhaps another word for some to learn and incorporate this year might be grace? Extending GRACE to those that help us grow in our quilting journey by providing FREE and awesome mystery patterns!!! Hugs, Allison in Plano

  30. I hope the idea of grief was a tongue in cheek remark :)
I have one extra of the neutral...falala I'm going to use it as a Bonnie icon!!

thanks again bonnie for one of my favorite things each year

It was no big deal I figured my seam allowance was off somewhere and adjusted accordingly. This was the first mystery I participated in and really enjoyed the experience. Now that I have tried the tri recs tools thst have been unopened in my sewing room for a few years I will be using them a lot more often. Thank you Bonnie!

  32. PS: perhaps our copies of "Bonnie Boo'boo Border will be as valuable in 100 years as the upside down plane postage stamp :) I'm keeping mine as is and will enfold it in the book when it comes out.

  33. This has been THE MOST fun! Thanks so much for your hard work. I'm assuming that reprinting all of part 6 is not necessary; can't I just cross out and correct the two numbers? That was the only difference I could see.

    ReplyDelete
  34. sHey Bonnie, I'm not the only to say it's no big deal. At least we would have enough to do our borders and now that the kinks are being worked out in the pattern, you'll be good to go when it goes in print. I am so loving this year's mystery quilt. It reminds me of Orca Bay and has a lot potential color play for the next time. I love mine so far!!!!! Thanks Bonnie, Rea(Ree-ah)of CNY

  35. Some of us slow pokes haven't got to that point yet anyway! I saw on some of the Facebook posts where some were panicky about it and others just assured them it was just a typo and to just go ahead and add units as needed. I don't know how you do it all anyway! You must be "Super Bonnie"!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. No grief and no headache. I simply added another unit and it all worked out fine. Didn't even have the urge to email you about it since it was so simple even I could figure out how to solve the issue, haha! I love my Packer Solstice..waiting on the final fabric for last border and I will send you another picture--I am SO excited to get it quilted!

  39. I'm sure most people could figure it out. It wasn't a problem for me at all....I'm lagging so far behind that I haven't even printed the pattern yet. Hehe. Still trying to finish Orca Bay. :)

  40. You ARE human! With all you do - travel, teach, quilt cam, and all that posting (ha!) - I was beginning to think of you as a super hero! Lots of folks figured it out on their own. Thanks for a great quilt pattern!

  41. Still piecing away on all the units and I always come up either short or with extra awe what's a quilter to do- go figure as in it out. BONNIE YOU ARE SUCH A BLESSINGS TO ALL OF US SOME JUST LIVE LIFE TO POINT OUT OTHERS MISTAKES. BRUSH OFF THE WORTHLESS COMMENT AND KEEP SHINING ON AS #1

  42. Guess there are some advantages to being radically behind!!! Someone else can find the errors and I can just reap the harvest! lol

  43. Bonnie, this is a most amazing mystery quilt. All you have done is very appreciated. In putting the quit together, all would have been discovered as part of the mystery. Thank you for your effort, energy and willingness to give this gift to others!

  44. No problem Bonnie. Thanks for all you do. This is my first mystery quilt with you and I just love it. I was out of my comfort zone with the colors and all the scraps...and it is turning out Beautiful. Thanks for all you do.

I have all but the last step cut and put together and - as per my usual, in case I wanted to make it rectangular instead of square - I cut and made extra blocks at each step. This was my first mystery - just never thought I wanted to do things - I was sooo wrong, I was in your mystery class in Plano (the one with a striped vest and spotted socks). I love your patterns and am totally addicted. You have absolutely no reason for any apologies. Life is not perfect and that is certainly not the first mistake anyone has ever made on a pattern -No one has any reason to complain. Thanks for y=who you are and what you do! See you in Mineola Tx in the fall

  47. No problem, Bonnie. I just want to say thank you for the wonderful quilt instructions. This has been the most fun I've had in a long time. My blocks are done & I'm squaring them up if needed , on to sewing them together. Thanks again. Jackie in NH

  48. If I remember well, the first rule for this mystery was NO COMPLAINTS! Who can?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Some people, without a doubt, reek like a pig sty on a humid Georgia summer day. One block? Seriously? These are the same people who lay in wait (and yes it is 'lay' not 'lie') for errors to be found so that they can POUNCE and point it out--false superiority for some is so much more satisfying than appreciation for another's efforts. Let me join the chorus of your real fans, Miss Bonnie, and say a heartfelt thank you for all you do--FOR FREE--for your Quiltville Queenies.
