Quiltville Goes To Nashville! ((Give-Away!))

I’ve had Tricia Yearwood’s “Livin’ on the Wrong Side of Memphis” playing through my head through the past few days!

However, Nashville is on the RIGHT SIDE!

What’s not to like about Nashville, TN in the spring?

Three workshops and a Lecture/Trunk Show!

Time to explore and find antique malls and quilt shops?

Reconnect with some ladies I haven’t seen in several years!

The only thing dragging me down is that my flight is wheels up at 6:53AM this morning ---so you guessed it – this post is being written ahead so I don’t have to deal with it when the alarm goes off at 4am.

Some sewing did get accomplished on a very quiet Easter Afternoon ---

011

I sewed a spring green binding on a very pink Atlas machine, circa 1958!
Doesn’t this shout SPRING to you?

012

Bright green binding on an indigo blue border? You bet!

I can’t show you the whole project because there are magazine and book plans for this one in the future –but I’ve been working with these colors for the past 6 months or so, building this quilt as leaders and enders while working on everything else as always – just working here and there a bit at a time.  This is a project that has packed easily in my suitcase.  Up until now!

I have a “generic” walking foot on the pink Atlas machine….and needing a 1/4” binding and finding the foot too wide to use the edge of the foot as my guide, I screwed on another little vintage goodie that came in a random box of machine feet – it’s a curved seam  guide that drops down in FRONT of the foot so I can set it where I need to go!

I've found sometimes when putting on a binding that the sticky guide is not high enough to use as a fence when the quilt is thicker than the guide.  I still like the sticky guide for every day all purpose piecing..but for binding and using a walking foot, this is my alternative!

013

Loving the 1940’s looking backing fabric!

This has been in the stash for some time –((Like years and years and years)) and there was just enough to use  for the backing and the sleeve with just about nothing left over ---Bye bye!

Guess what finally showed up on my doorstep?  The latest Quiltmaker May/June issue with Wild & Goosey & Part II of the Lazy Sunday Mystery in it!!

quiltmaker 010

Do you see a similarity between the colors on the cover – and the snips of my quilt above?
Sometimes –the color goddesses are in synch!

Let’s have a Give-Away!

Tell me what color combos you are working with right now!

I’ll be home Friday and we will draw a winner for one copy of Quiltmaker Magazine's May/June issue on Friday Evening ---

Catch you from Nashville!

  3. I love that spring green and navy! Right now I don't have any spring green out though. I've been working with peach and red and white on one project and blue and white on another project. And dull dull dull earth tones for a quilt for my son. :) But then it's a bright, almost neon, scrappy trips around the world! I've been using that as incentive to get the dull ones off the table in a hurry!

  10. Took 3 UFS BOMs to DDs last week when pet sitting. Only got the one moved toward finishing. I'm on block 11 of 12 now and trying to finish it up before moving on to something else. Colors? Dusty Rose and Cream background. Yes, it's a yrs. old BOM and I had not even started it. I like the colors. I can't remember where or when I got it. Perhaps in the 90's?

I just finished 72 scrappy 12-patch blox, stacked in their appointed rows just waiting to be sewn together....and ready to cut my "Nancy Drew" fabric...so I'd have to say I'm "un-customarily" working with mostly bright primary colors. TIA! B-)
