ReplyDeleteCherry Sopapilla Cheesecake, Layer #1- 1/2 can of refrigerated creasant rolls on bottom of 8x8 pan (pinch seams together to make a smooth square), Layer #2- 8 oz cream cheese mixed with slightly less than 1/4 c. sugar & 1/8 tsp vanilla, Layer #3- 1 can of pie filling (I like cherry), Layer #4- other 1/2 of the creasent rolls. Pour 1/2 stick of melted butter over top & sprinkle with couple tblsp. of sugar. 350 for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.yummmmmmmmmmmmm!

When I was growing up, desserts, candy, and pop were only served on rare occasions, such as birthdays. On my day, I always asked for strawberry pop and confetti angel food cake...and I got to lick the bowl!

ReplyDeleteRED VELVET CAKE!!! Not with cream cheese icing but with the traditional Red Velvet cake icing that Eaton's iced their cakes with. It is buttery and creamy and to die for. When we were kids we would eat the cake part first and save the icing for last. Yummmm!! Enjoy your Block Party.

ReplyDelete*drooling* My favorite dessert? Warm chocolate chip cookies, soft and straight from the oven using Mrs.Fields' recipe with lots of butter. But without wheat, dairy or eggs, they're just baking soda, salt and sugar. So my current favorite that I can actually eat is almond milk ice cream with chopped pecans and maple syrup. Then when I run out of almond milk ice cream, I just have pecans and maple syrup, warm from the microwave. yum. Even without gluten, there are many choices.

Hands down ... strawberry shortcake. Heralds the arrival of spring and my birthday! Always was my "birthday cake" ... my mom would make homemade biscuits, lightly sweetened strawberries and freshly whipped cream as a topping ... pure heaven! I used to tell her that if God made anything more tasty He kept it for Himself! LOL
