Dec 23 Quilt Cam!

The grocery stores were a ZOO, of course –one day before Christmas Eve.

And the one thing we really needed that I neglected to put in my cart?  MILK!?  Someone will be making a milk run shortly!

This lovely gingerbread house you see here was made by Maree!

She writes:

Merry Christmas! Tuning in whilst decorating six gingerbread houses for my nieces & nephews who have children of there own!

Being ably assisted by my son who is a lieutenant in the navy and his brand new fiancé! They got engaged Tuesday so it's very exciting! They live in Sydney (10 hrs from here) so it's lovely to have them with us!

Maree in Australia!
Christmas Cheer abounding!

And of course --- the one thing you’ve been waiting for – today’s drawing of our winner!

Gale of SUPERQUILTER – step on down!

She writes:

Bonnie, I love your energy and love for scrappy quilts. When you announce Quiltcam I can't wait to watch. It's like having one of my quilt buddies sewing with me. Thanks for the flying geese instructions from your antique quilt of which I am working on right now plus Easy Street. It's all your fault that I am becoming addicted to scraps. LOL Throughout the years I have paid for those scraps, so why not use them. Thanks Bonnie. I entered the drawing at Quiltmaker and would love to have the book and seam maker ruler.
Congrats, Gale!  Send me your snail mail address, and I’ll mail these off right after Christmas – they will be on their way to you!

So, let’s sew!  I'm back to working on my Jubilee blocks.

Do you have a project that is dragging?  Get it out – come sew with me!

You can leave a comment in the comment section below, or leave one in the guest book by clicking the blue guest book button in the left hand side bar, While I can't answer them all ---I do pick randomly and try to answer questions and comments as I sew!

This will be the first QuiltCam show I've been able to catch. Have you thought about recording them at some point?

Wish I could be sewing with you, but off to the grocery store I must go. Just waiting for my husband to be ready to go too - maybe I could just sneak out without him - lol!

Twelve people for dinner on Christmas day and three of them have never been to my house before ... family of friends who would be alone ... this should be fun! All these adults and only one little person (4 1/2 years old).

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Is there any way to order one of your new rulers without a book purchase? I already have your books.

Hi Bonnie! Working on Clue #5. What's the quilt behind you? Also, how hard is it to convert a electric machine to a treadle?

Thearica said...

Hubby has gone after pizza and I am here doing some hand stitching. So cool to be with kindred spirits this afternoon!

I'll be wrapping presents while watching you sew...It's the only way I can get some "alone time" without the hubby over my shoulder watching me!

Merry Christmas, Bonnie!! I'm watching you while working on a redwork mini-quilt for a special friend (not a Christmas present, so no pressure!)

Did you check the feet on your refrigerator? Sometimes you can lower the fridge with those adjustable feet :)

Bonnie, I know you are very organized and was just wondering how may projects you have going at once?

Hi Bonnie from snowy-blowy Central Alberta. Bad roads so I didn't get to town to church this morning. My Final Assessment Piece is finished -- big shout out to you and Quilt Cam for keeping me company when I did all the embroidery embellishment. This afternoon I'm putting a sleeve on the wall-hanging I made for my son, and then I'll finish knitting the toe of a sock for my daughter and the pair will be done. Quilt Cam is the *best* way to spend a snowy afternoon!

Carving out some time today to catch up on easy street. I'm cutting now and will be piecing on my new Christmas gift a singer featherweight (thank you Craigslist). Thanks for taking time to encourage us during this busy season.

Do you mind sharing the name of the shop where you found that cool 2 drawer cabinet?

Awww. Ad came on as you were talking about the machine conversion.

Oh poop! Something happened with my video at the beginning, and I had to intercept a phone call, so I missed it if you answered my question (I was lucky enough to have been the first to comment on this post).

Is it a problem if I found fabric in my shoe bin that I don't remember purchasing?? It was Kaffe Fassett fat quarters and some super cute charm squares! I guess that means I like my taste in fabric and that I need an intervention.

Hi Bonnie,

Joining you from snowy CA. Visiting my parents cabin in the mountains for the holidays. Hubby took girls skiing and I'm sewing on a challenge quilt for guild while using Easy Street step 1 for leaders and enders. Hooking on to some neighbor's wifi to catch QuiltCam. Thanks for keeping me company!

Hi Bonnie, love quilt cam. I would like to ask a favor, since you moved the quilt cam I can't quite see all of your machine, I see more above you. Would you please be able to move the cam down just a bit? Have a Merry Christmas. Joyce from Maryland.

Hi Bonnie! I am prepping one of my vintage Japanese Singer-clones to give to my sister-in-law for Christmas. Enjoying watching you while I do this project. It is a machine that I have a near-duplicate for, so I am only experiencing minor pangs of remorse at giving this machine away. Ha ha.

Tuned in from the UK whilst sewing my random hexie quilt. All the conversations and posts on old machines is making me nostalgic for my mums old belt driven machine I remember using growing up. Haven't found that 'bargain' purchase anywhere...yet!

Hello aim am sewing easy street and I am able to keep up so far this is my first ever mystery. the other night I asked about your ironing stand but, sadly, I fell asleep, it was not that you were boring, I was just tired. So, what are the layers on your table behind you. Love, Shelley

Colleen said...

Merry Christmas Bonnie! Greetings from chilly Lewisville! Ive been snugged up in my sewing room since Friday sewing Christmas presents and crafting a few ornaments. I also made some pillowcases for the Sandy Hook project. When will the Easy Street instructions disappear?

Louise said...

You talked about using a machine in a treadle, but how about putting a handcrank on a machine? I have a nice red-eye singer, but the wiring was shot so we cut it off. It still has a motor but I don't know if it works. I use it as a "decor" item.
Would you recommend putting a handcrank on it? Is is hard to do or hard to operate?

Bonnie, I'm so glad your having quilt cam today! I had just finished quilting the last boarder on the last Christmas quilt (just needed binding) flipped it over to inspect and..... a couple pins had came out and I sewed the extra backing on top of itself :/ At least I get to watch quilt cam while I rip out that section of quilting :)

I'm just putting the rows together on my first totally scrappy quilt. - your Bricks & Stepping Stones pattern - and it's gorgeous! Channuka ended last weekend, so this week off work it total play time for me. (By the way, we ended up with the same problem and the solution when our new fridge failed to fit in our new house. No one has ever notices or said a thing about it.) Enjoy your new kitchen and Merry Christmas to everyone.

Hi Bonnie, Love that I've found you!!!I haven't (yet) invested in a Featherweight but saw Janome has come out with a new machine that looks vintage *and* you can buy a motor kit... Janome HDL131. Have you heard of it?
Merry Christma to you, your family and all your co-fans with me!

Merry Christmas Bonnie,
Santa came early for my 4 year old granddaughter, a friend gave me her Mother's new sewing machine. I plan on teaching my granddaughter how to sew by hand turning the wheel on my feather weight like I was taught to sew and then when she hang of it she can use power. I'm looking forward in passing on the tradition of sewing, but not the fabric hoarding part, lol.
I had to turn quilt cam up today as the pugs have their sweaters on and are snoring up a storm, I have 4 pugs. But sound and picture are great here once I turned it up.

Yay! Sewing with friends is always much more fun than sewing alone. Merry Christmas to you and yours and praying 2013 will be the quilt-i-est year for all of us! Latest mystery clue is almost finished. Still in love with the Double Delight mystery. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!

Merry Christmas Bonnie! It's 6am on Christmas Eve in Queensland. I'm sewing down the binding on a quilt for my granddaughter for tomorrow - nearly finished. I didn't get that Featherweight on eBay in the end as I wasn't 100% sure she should come and live with me, but I'm still looking for the machine that says 'BUY ME NOW' (thank you for your advice and insights on vintage machines). I do have an old Chinese or Japanese Singer lookalike handcrank that works and would be fun to make a quilt on. I should dig her out and give it a go!

Hi Bonnie, Hope you and your family and everyone in Quiltcam land have a lovely Christmas. It's 7 am where I am so I'm watching you instead of getting ready to go to work!

I'm starting my flying geese, the first ones are a bit odd with the top corners pulled in, do I just need practice or is there a technique to this - apart from accurate cutting and sewing!!!!

I love your crumb blocks. I have made way to many of them and taught some other friends. Amazing how many people cannot or will not actually do them as they are way to free form and not matchy.
A friend has taught allot of others also.
