Yep--iPhone-o-gram! We're Sewing!

Update on the luggage damage--and pardon the one fingered typing. We have to take it to the airport to start the claim process.

This was not checked luggage--

This usually goes under the seat in front of me and I've never had a problem but yesterday the under the seat area was already filled by a huge back pack that didn't leave room for my carry on. It does not fit the overhead bins on small commuter jets.

I was told it had to be checked plane side. It was already chaos on the plane because we were an hour late leaving San Francisco. And I trusted all would be okay.

Next time I will be more firm in saying no way Jose.

But we are sewing!!

Randy set up her 1080 for me in the sew ezi table and I'm sewing up a storm.

Randy just finished putting in the last border on her ocean waves beauty!

Darlynn and Debbie are stitching away on their projects.

The music is playing loud and the chatter and laughter is louder!

  3. The Ocean Waves quilt is gorgeous! Great job! I'm flying soon and your story will serve as a reminder that it is okay to say "no" when requested to do something that a small voice in the back of your mind is saying you should say "no" to. As women we seem programed to say "yes" and be cooperative. Why didn't the owner of the black back pack move it to under their seat so you'd have your seat space?!? I learned a lesson today from your tragic event. Thanks so much for sharing. Praying you'll be able to get the beautiful featherweight fixed or I'll really miss it in upcoming blog photos!

  4. That is the exact same model of Bernina that I sew on! I *think* it was the same as the one you had that finally gave up the ghost? I do love that machine!

  6. I agree with Lisa ... sometimes we are too "accommodating" ... I would have said, "Whose backpack is in MY space" and expected THEM to find alternative arrangements. Sad lesson to learn and I hope it all works out okay .... but glad you were able to keep on stitching with your friends ... looks like a BLISSFUL time ;-)

  10. i was outraged my the grievous crime against magenta. i was checking out your work schedule, you will be at the bluegrass quilt festival in sept., there will be a class by linda scholten, "caring for your featherweight". wonder if she includes welding? i hope resolving the problem with 'plane side storage' is quick and painless. enjoy the girl time! :>)

I agree with an earlier post - why was another passenger allowed to take up your carry on space? If his carry on was too big to fit in his space, he should have been the one to send his over the wall ...

I do agree that we are too quick to be accommodating, especially in stressful situations. I hope the airline will be accommodating to you in taking care of your loss.

    Bonnie,

Thank you that you always share your horror stories about taking a sewing machine on a plane so it doesn't happen to us too. Such a nice person to give you a machine to use. Happy Sewing. Still crazy about hexies!!!! Going strong. Lots more to do.......... Barby in MH, ARK

I am sorry to hear about the damage to your beautiful machine and hope she can be mended! I'm sure she would be very hard to replace.
I also wanted to ask about the folding scrap catchers displayed on the sewing table... any information on where those can be purchased?
    Thanks! - Kathy (girliegear29@yahoo.com)

  15. I flew to St Louis last November and had only a carryon to put overhead. It was small but I was near last on and the overheads were full. I had to check planeside but I refused until I was able to remove my laptop computer and a jewelry container that was in the carryon. I plopped that luggage down and opened it and everyone could see what was in it, but no way was I going to let my computer get put underneath.
