iPhone-o-Gram! Hello, Delaware!

I was picked up at the airport by Carrie, her Mom and Wanda!

The luggage arrived--first off the belt! No delays, no rain, no hanging up on the chute---

As soon as I got to the car I discovered that the girls had yard saled their way from Dover to Baltimore to get me---

Including stopping at a "Dead Quilters yard sale" which had me laughing until I realized the quilter was really dead---a former member of their guild, and her family was selling off her stash.

In retrospect---I hope my passing ((in the way distant future if course!!)) will make many shoppers as happy as these ladies were to adopt their friend's stash and help out her family.

Carrie even gifted me with this lovely!!! Yikes!! This is one for the "cut it really small" box!!!

BBQ on Marti & Deb's patio tonight! Life is good!!

  6. Hey, got to love those quilters garage sales. Went to a divorce sale on Friday and a stash reduction sale on Saturday. Came home with 207 fat quarters, 5 big kits, and some yardage. Passed on the 192 batik fat quarters for $200.

The divorce sale was pretty funny. She apparently walked away but he was going to sell all the stash and share the money 50/50??? The person selling knew NOTHING about quilting or fabric and had no prices on anything (or any organization either). She is lucky quilters are fair people.

  9. Eew! Snakes! Please cut that into tiny pieces. I've told my family that when I die, contact a quiting friend and let them bring all my quilty friends over to go thru my stash.

  10. I have that fabric! I used it in my grandson's "bug jar" quilt! LOL

  11. Is that an orange and green Orca Bay I spy in the background?

  12. YUK, snakes. Cut it Very Small! I'm using my stash up as fast as I can. I've said it before but my son keeps reminding me. My Magnet that says "She who dies with the most fabrics has happy relatives" lies according to him. Got my copy of 100 Blocks Vol 5 Magazine today! I was so excited I haven't gotten anything else done. I tested you block in there. Can hardly wait to show off all of the 12 Blocks I tested.

  13. As much as I love getting gifts of fabric....I'm sorry the snakes would have accidentally gotten left behind at a hotel or in the room I was staying at.

  14. UGH....I'm very fearful of snakes and don't think I could work with fabric that had snakes on it. LOL Welcome to our tiny state....hope you have a great stay here.

I would use that snake fabric to make a quick piecing charity quilt. There is some little boy in a hospital/Ronald McDonald House/etc who would think he had the "coolest" quilt -- and it would make his day. And get the snakes out of my house.

  16. My DH says sleeping under snakes would make any little boy happy.......

  17. If that fabric wasn't cut small I don't think I'd be able to sleep under the quilt!

  18. Oh I miss the zero sales tax in Delaware! My daughter was born north of Dover in Newark, Delaware. I would have thought you'd flown to Philly and not Baltimore. How odd!

I took my little 3 yo boy shopping when we were on vacation in Minneapolis and he wasn't content to leave the store until I had purchased some of that exact fabric- sooo cute but it kind of sucks having to share your fabric budget with a newbie... If we were closer (and he could read) he would be on your doorstep trying to adopt it!

  21. Hey - you are within 50 miles of me! Wish I could join you in lower Delaware. Be thankful you flew in before the late nor'easter hit.

I truly enjoy reading your blog. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and tips with us! BTW, I used your Crabapples design in a wall hanging with 8 normal blocks surrounding a double-sized block.

Nice piece of fabric to "accidently" leave behind. Did you possibly inadvertently somehow "offend" one of those ladies in order to have this gift bestowed on you! lol. Very creepy fabric!

  23. Unlike all the others, I love the snake fabric. Of course that might be because I used to have a pet snake. I think it would be a great addition to a jar quilt.

  24. That snake fabric is hilarious Bonnie, you must use a big piece, just like Tonya said.

I've often wondered what will happen to my stash when I'm gone ... my quilting friends and I recently talked about trading food for fabric. A pound for pound trade - freezer meals for fabric ... at least I know my family will be fed *lol*

Tazzie - I guess in some way we all wonder about what will happen lol. Our 2 daughtres (who do not quilt!!!) are to give my fabrics, tools etc to one of the church's in town. They have an inside yard sale each week. Then give the complete procedures to a local charity, different one each week. Food pantries, women's shelter etc.

As for my machines? OHHHH Featherweight will be kept. The others will probably go to that sale also. Best I could think to do with everything. The folks running the sale are WISE in pricing etc. And it all will be for a good cause.

  25. Oh, snakes-have the perfect project for that if I can find it! Internnet brwosing morning coming up! And LOVING the tax free shopping-here in UK it would mean 20% off!!

  26. Several years ago I searched high and low for snake fabrics. I was making a bug jar quilt for my Grandson and I wanted to add a few of the other squirmy critters a boy might keep in a jar. I stumbled upon the same fabric on ebay and my Grandson loves the finished quilt, snakes and all!

I have rattlesnake fabric that I brought to use in a quilt for a now former son in law. Lol

  29. Bonnie, I think this might be the one fabric that you can't "cut it small enough?" Ha Ha!

  30. I know you will find a great place for the snakes. I agree that there are lots of little boys and some girls too that would love to have snakes on a quilt.
I have told my DD to call my two BFF to clear out the sewing room after I go to the big quilt retreat. I may have to rethink it now, since one DD is quilting and the other is knitting.
Maybe I should just stop buying so much fabric, yarn, crafty projects. Naaa that is not going to happen.

  31. I think your 'cut it up really small' fabric should be made into the One Block Wounder!! With the extra as the backing or border - but backing would be fun!!! ;-)

Yes, is it something to think about, what will happen to our passion when we go on the next journey of our life....... As long as it's not tossed into the garbage I won't haunt my family!!!

  32. Did you get a full-size photo of the Orca Bay in the background? Love to see it!
