Leap Day Madness!

***NOTE!!** This Give-Away has ended! Jan is the winner of the magazine and the charm pack from me. Congrats, Jan!

My buddy Pat Sloan and I were talking about being so glad, EVER SO GLAD that February had one extra day in it this year.

I mean, February with its short span of 28 days always leaves me feeling short-sheeted. It arrives right after January ends, and in the blink of an eye, bam! It’s gone! But this year, we get an EXTRA DAY---Today!

Let’s make a gift out of this extra gifted day, why don't we?

Pat had this great idea that we play a bit more on this extra day, and spread some friendship around! Of course that means there is a fun Give-away involved, directly from our stashes!

Your job is to tell your friends to come join in, via facebook, via email, via phone call -- however you choose it! You leave a comment to this post for the Quiltmaker magazine issue and the Moda Summer Breeze Charm pack, and then you head over to Pat’s Blog and leave her a comment for the Aurifil thread and the honey bun roll!

Remember, if you are commenting as anonymous, or if your profile does not include your email address, you must leave your name and email at the bottom of your comment to be eligible for this drawing.

If it is your first time commenting on my blog, let me know! Welcome, welcome! I’m so happy you stopped by! And if it is your first time visiting Pat’s blog – let her know as well.

This is a fun pic of Pat and I together as we took a batch of crazy quilters on a Carribbean cruise this past November! ((The shirtless guy with lots of hair belongs to neither of us -- just sayin'!))

If you are a member of my Quiltville Friend Page on Facebook, go give Pat a like too on hers! You won’t want to miss her radio interview posts with other Quilt Divas and the other fun Quilty stuff she is up to with the Learning Center.

If you are here because you read about it on Pat’s Facebook page or blog, would you give me a like too? I’d like to get to know you better! There is a Facebook widget over there in the right hand side bar..just click LIKE!

Get involved, get to know some quilters you may not have met before, laugh lots, share lots, and quilt lots more!

Let's run it down one more time!

  • Use the 'Share' feature at our Facebook Posts to spread the love to your own Facebook Wall!
  • tell your forum/yahoogroup/message board buddies about the give-away!
  • shout it out at your flickr groups!
  • and chat it up on your blogs!
  • the more quilters the better we say!

We will both be choosing our winners the evening of March 1st – so be watching for that, and good luck and HAPPY LEAP DAY to everyone!

BONUS!! If you are new here, I've got another give-away going on that will be drawn for on Friday! It's for an issue of "On Track" Magazine, the publication of the International Machine Quilter's Association. You can go HERE to read more about it and leave a comment there for that Give-Away too!

Don't forget that SATURDAY is the first Saturday of March, so it's also YARD SALE SATURDAY. You'll want to come back -- if you have a blog, blog about quilty things you want to sell, and come link up to my post and let's move this stuff out to new homes. Last month it was a lot of fun.

After saving those hundreds of buttons from all my deconstructed shirts, I finally got to use one today to replace a lost button on DH shirt!! It figures it would happen on Leap Day :D Thought this would give you a chuckle :)

  5. I'm a first timer as far as commenting goes on your blog. I have been, as my boys say, "stalking" your blog and facebook page for at least a year. I have really enjoyed all of your posts and am gleaning valuable information to slowly get my scraps under controll. I have only one more tub of scraps to iron and cut, then into the proper bins they go for a future quilt or two, or three.

Since my twins have started college this past fall, I have reaquainted myself with my sewing room, and am in love all over again. After a solid week of sewing, after dropping the boys off at school, I proclaimed that "I know what I want to be when I grow up!"

Thank you so much for sharing your talent, tips, and tricks with so many. It is truly appreciated.

  14. I put a quilt on the longarm last evening (sound familiar Bonnie?) and will quilt it today. Also I have to take a couple of scrap quilts to the library for a display for the month. Our guild does an annual quilting demonstration day each March, showing the step by step process of making a quilt. Also today I have to get a muslin made to fit my daughter for her wedding dress. Never a dull moment, even with an "extra" day to the month. I would love to win your give-away and have signed up with Pat as well.

Okay, I am "leaping ahead" and getting two tops together-need the floor for another quilt! Had put my stuff on the back burner for 2 weeks to help my daughter get pillowcases cut out of my stash that her place of employment is making for Conkerr Cancer. I still have a bunch to go and have already cut about 45 for her to take in for others to sew! Once I put it on "her" pile, she is not allowing me to renig and take anything back. So, I am cutting they for her so I can keep the scraps!!! LOL-Mom's not so far gone yet!

Hello Bonnie and Pat! I found Bonnie's site only a week ago and have spent every morning since enjoying learning so much in such a short time, and feeling very inspired to start quilting again after a year and half of ill health. My biggest problem now is a practically non-existent stash for the many of Bonnie's designs that I want to make...I would love the chance to win some free fabric! I have NO idea with computers, and so I hope you get this. Thankyou for all the inspiration and best wishes, Kate, Bristol, UK.

Happy Leap Day! I hate waiting for lunch to check in on the blog during the day... this work thing really needs to stop, it is getting in the way of my quilting!

I don't know how to fix my "reply" post so that it shows my email. I don't have a blog to link to, but I am not anonymous, so I tell it my name, and I am trying to add my email address, but it keeps adding () and then telling me that the "URL contains illegal characters" - is there a techy person who knows how to stop it?

  125. Great to meet you. My Free Day is being spent working on a t-shirt quilt I am making for the guardian of a 20 year old Marine who lost his life in an ambush in Iraq. I knew both of the parents who were mentally challenged and it made me feel good to know that Frankie was raised to be the fine young man he was. T-shirts are done and edging on. Now to make blocks for his platoon who just arrived home a week ago to sign and then it will be ready to assemble.

What a beautiful day here in Indiana (Northern). I spent my leap day planting tomato seedlings in my greenhouse where it was around 85 degrees. (My DH and I own a small family owned garden center and spring is arriving daily at our front door. No problems with our boxes so far?) I hope to squeeze in some piecing soon. Hi Bonnie, I have really loved reading your blog. This is my first time to visit you here and comment. Pat is a hoot! Just love her! Winning either yours or Pats giveaway would really make the end of Feb a great one for me. This month has been pretty hard on my family. First we had to bury my best friends 13 yr old nephew (that was this past weekend) and yesterday I found out my 1st cousin passed away, so Friday have another funeral to attend. So with all that I didn't get much sewing or quilting done lately. Sorry didn't mean to unload on you. I will definitely be back daily to read your blog! I have one but it's so behind, I really need to try and catch it up. Thanks so much for such a generous give away! Love and hugs, Maria Carroll maria.carroll14@yahoo.com
