Feelin’ Down & Out?! Who, ME?!

I seem to have hit a brick wall here at home…by yesterday morning when I woke up, there was a distinct tickle running down the back of my throat….

A quick couple of hours to get caught up on book orders and paperwork, and off I went to the Post Office, followed by a trip to CVS for some airborne and some cold-eeze and a stop at the hole-in-the-wall Chinese place for my cure-all of EVERYTHING~~A large container of Hot n Sour Soup.

I so RARELY get sick that this has really ticked me off! I don’t have TIME to have an elephant on my chest taking up residence. I don’t have time to sit around with a box of tissues and feel sorry for myself. I need this to be gone…..I am headed to Tyler, TX next week!

Besides, Karen is coming over tomorrow to put a quilt in the machine, and that means that I need the cruise quilt loaded, quilted and unloaded before she gets here. Maybe I should wait a day..the machine needs to be empty when she gets here :c)

There are errands to run….some of which may wait a day or two, but I am NOT passing up on the 90 minute massage I have scheduled for this afternoon. There is a nagging knot in my right hamstring that also needs to go away.

So there you have it, my whiny complaint for today, but it won’t keep me down for long.

See this wrapper?!?

misc 001

I LOVE how Halls cough drops have little messages of encouragement on them! This one says:

Don’t wait to get started!

Get Back in the game!

Tough is your middle name!

Flex your “can do” muscle! ((Okay, this one had me laughing out loud…and thinking in other directions! LOL!))

Fire up those engines!

Impress yourself today!

You’ve survived tougher!

Seize the day!

I wanted to post more Philly pics, but I’m running short on time this morning, and Karen is coming tomorrow, so some things are hitting the back burner until later. YES! I did go to the Betsy Ross House! And YES! I did sit in George Washington’s family pew at Christ Church..and took wonderful pics..but….another day!

However, I did come home to THIS:

204427_10150180622838909_515823908_6564290_504978_o

The old roof is off, new plywood has been laid, the skylights removed…and the weather proofing put in place! We are well on our way to having our new red metal roof!

204369_1822206429816_1079877197_31778958_1364165_o

The light was kind of funky toward evening, but it’s going to be great. I am hoping for red shutters eventually too. The house is wood sided, very much like a cabin in the woods type of cottage, and I think that will need a re-staining at some point too.

201297_10150180625318909_515823908_6564322_168498_o

This is the view from the back, ladders and all…and the blue tarp is covering the woodpile. The gazebo houses our hot tub, and it will also get a new red metal roof so it will all match….

I want to thank everyone who stopped by to visit yesterday! This drawing isn’t over yet! I’m keeping the comments open until the morning of May 7th when the whole blog tour has ended! So click back to yesterday’s post and leave a comment there if you want to be in the drawing for a free copy of 100 blocks, volume 3!

Back to the quilting machine….Elephant on the chest be danged!

Best way to get rid of a sinus issue: snort warm salt water. Seriously! You don't need to buy that expensive Neti pot thing. 1/4 tsp salt in 1 cup water, warm it up, use a 1 tsp spoon (this is awkward the first few times), with the other hand close one side of your nose and breathe in and simultaneously slightly pour the water towards the non-pinched side. It doesn't hurt, although you'll want to have tissues nearby as a TON of nastyness will come out.

It sounds terrible, but my Mother-in-law has been doing it for longer than I've been alive and it's all I use for colds anymore. Repeat as necessary.

I hope the elephant gets homesick and goes back where he came from. I know from experience that you can travel when you are ill, and it just cuts out the fun parts of traveling. The resting in the hotel room replaces the exploring new things and in your case possibly making new friends.

Get better soon! Tyler is great! My mother is from there. Beautiful roses. Don't miss the rose gardens. They used to have a great flea market by the rose gardens. Check it out if you have time.

Sounds like you need to sit down in front of the tv, watch a nice movie and work on some hand quilting! Hope you feel better soon.

Get Better, I ended up with a viral infection and I ended up with steriods. Breathe the salt water, it does work.

This was me last week. I rarely get sick, so I understand the being ticked off when it happens! An anti-biotic and Dr. recommended allergy medicine and I'm much better. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I hope to see you in Tyler next week! I'm not a member there, since I don't live close enough. But I'm close enough to drive in for a meeting after work. Can't wait to meet you in person.

Ahhh, Bonnie - something is telling you to take notice - system is begging for attention and self love. You are gonna love that metal roof. Judy C says TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

Have you tried spraying your nose with Saline solution or using a Netti Pot? It feels terrible, but it does help with the drainage. Take care!

I thought that my husband was the only person in the world who though H & S soup was the absolute cure-all for an achy cold and stuffy head! You go, girl! My personal preference is fried shrimp with tons of cocktail sauce that's way heavy on the horeradish, or eggrolls with that wicked Chinese mustard. Feel better.

Bonnie, I'm sorry that you were sick! Me too, I got sicker than I can remember...just last week. And, an elephant on my chest kinda did describe how I felt.

I can't wait to see how your roof looks. We have brown wood on our house and we need a new roof, so need to start thinking about what type.

Your body's telling you to rest, Bonnie. Load Karen's quilt tomorrow, and snuggle up with a quilt and watch her go for it. Sending Internet chicken soup!

Hot and sour cures ALL - as long as there are NO peas in it!

trust me I'm a nurse

Feel better soon Bonnie. Don't push too hard while you are sick. Better to rest a bit now and get rid of that elephant.

Well, I was going to give you some words of encouragement but looks like your little 'halls' wrappers have done that for me! I hate being sick too and I haven't been literally in years...I swear by my vitamin C!
I'm just glad you are home for this little spell instead of on the road and having to drive!!
Here's to a speedy recovery!

I hope you feel better soon...you are such a dynamo! I am working scraps now in spare time to make THREE of your fabulous quilts from your books! FABULOUS!

In stitches,
