Hello, Gracie :c)

I think my internet connection is a bit faster here, so I'm going to upload some photos!

This is Gracie! She is 12 weeks old and already a Quilt Terrorist! She is enamored with cone thread coming off the spool and through the holder....she loves to nestle herself into any project that lays on the machine table!

Anything that moves, she will attack it full force. I'm sorry to say we had to take cute little Gracie and put her in "TIME OUT" outside the sewing room! Poor thing. She really acted pitiful when we'd let her in again, and she'd be good for about 5 minutes until all mayhem let loose all over again. I forgot how fun it is to have baby kittens around!

After my lecture last night, I drove a bit over an hour west toward Akron where I will be for the next few days. This morning I've got a lecture/trunkshow followed by a half day Boxy Stars workshop which is always fun. It's such a great pattern for using up 2.5" strips, and the fun for me is seeing what fabrics the ladies decide to pull together. Always always I am encouraged by quilters who pulled everything they need from their stashes without having to buy a single thing to make this quilt.

After cleaning out a closet last week, I've recommitted myself to NO BUY if at all possible. That goes for the recycled shirt department too!

I better run and go get ready, I have to head out in about 20 minutes.

Have a super day!

  3. I'm sure given time Gracie will grow out of this behavior and become a full fledged QCC - Quality Control Cat.

  4. My grandson lives in Kent-close to Acron in Ohio with his mom and other Grandma. Wave as you go by...
Have fun with the trunk show. How's the foot?

  5. Bonnie, looks like so much fun with all that fabric and sewing going on!

I just want to say that your friend needs to be VERY VERY CAREFUL of Grace and the sewing thread. I had to have my cat put to sleep this past labor day weekend because she ate some thread and it became wrapped around her tongue and caught in her intestines. Please do not let her play with or eat thread! I don't understand why the manufacturers of cat products even use any type of string to sell as toys. I know this is a bit of a sad post but I just want to let everyone know what could happen. I know that cats love to eat and chase string, yarn, ect...

Glad to hear you are having fun in Ohio. You are not too far from me here in Michigan!

  6. Lovely pictures as always - yes kittens are so much fun but unfortunately I am alergic to cats and so cannot indulge. Glad your ankle is getting better - enjoy the rest of your trip.

  7. That last pix...I can't stop laughing! Aren't the animals fun in the sewing room? So many cool things for them to get into. I was at my machine one day when it started racing...I looked down and my cocker had his foot on the pedal! He thinks it is great fun...goofball.

  8. Love the Gracie photos! Reminds me of the note I once go when I had my sewing machine in for servicing "This is a sewing machine not a cat bed!"

  15. Gracie is a doll! I have 5 cats and a pup to help me sew. Some are more of a help than others! Thanks for sharing Gracie with us. She's a beauty!

  16. Gracie is just adorable - it looks like she's having a snuggle with the cone of thread. My Gracie couldn't be bothered visiting with me in the sewing room - only Holly comes to visit occasionally.
Love seeing your Bernie on the table there - makes me think I'm there stitching with you. How fun that our machines are twins!
    *hugs*

Love the quilt you are workin on there! What a great sneak peek thanks! ;) It reminds me a little of this quilt I came across tonight... http://quiltfuchs.blogspot.com/2009/04/layout-mit-frage-zu-den.html

take a look, perhaps you can use up all those bonus HSTs in a similar way? ;)

hope your ancle is getting better - I bet it's a lovely shade of purple? or green by now..? Love from Texas! ~bonnie

  19. Thread and kitties are not a good mix. I read above about an incident that she had to have a cat put down. My Bess ate 2 quilting needles with the thread attached. I luckily caught her soon enough for emergency surgery. The thread was wrapped around her tongue and the needles were in her tummy...$$$$ later and she still is a thread thief. I cannot leave any thread out...even on the machine.
Glad to get a sneak peek at the newest quilt design. Yummy sashings.
I am quilting away on this cool sunny day in Northern Indiana.
    XOXOXO Subee

  20. Love the kitten! I, too, have a young "helper". I have to shut him into the bathroom to get interesting quilting things done. I wanted to let you know that I got the newest Quiltmaker on Mon. and finished my top today. Wonderful pattern! Thank you so much! Janet P.

  21. Gracie is a cutie and a fun friend to have in the sewing room. You have been very productive looking at the cushy pile Gracie is guarding! The blocks on the machine look very nice too. Keep in touch, we love to hear from you.

  23. Gracie is really beautifull, I love her gray fur. Kittens are so adorable, just seeing her makes me want another (which I will not get, because we already have a cat).

  24. Gracie looks very much like a Russian Blue- we have one here but the standards are abit different to America. They are very sweet, affectionate and mischievous kittens -and fiercly loyal companions. Gracie is really sweet.
Enjoy your baby and training her in the righteous behaviours required for sewing room access-I'm training two British Shorthairs about sewing room etiquette myself-and out they go if they chew on cords or play with thread or pins! Tough love :)

  25. OMG, she is ADORABLE. I'm thinking I may need to get a cat just to have an extra thread holder around . . .
