How Many Squares in a Yard?!

Did you ever wonder how many squares of a given size you could get from ONE YARD of fabric? The chart below will help you find out! A yard can go farther than you think it can!

Guideline for figuring number of pieces in a yard of fabric.
(curved or unusual shaped pieces require more fabric)

*Use of selvege: allows for no waste

Many thanks for sharing this chart with all of us, it's a great help. I'm not a hardcore quilter, just when the time is in my favor. BUT!, I will admit I am a fabric hoarder, I always think I better get while I can because it might not be here when I want it.

Thank you for providing this info! I am not a quilter/sewer but am going to make reuseable beeswax food wraps in various sizes so needed to know how much fabric to order to get a certain number of wraps, so this was very helpful. Won't be sewing, just cutting. Pinking shears are my friends lol!
